Try it first September 23, 2008 JP (Boston) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
You are not saving much buying 36 bars. Ivory soap is inexpensive: always has been. If you've never tried it, buy a small pack locally and see if you like it before buying 3, 12 packs. It won't cost you more than about 50 cent per bar anyway. Also, Ivory always had a "soapy" scent. They just don't add in scent. It smells like soap, so don't be disappointed if it doesn't smell like "nothing". It's a good product, just not an outstanding value here.
WHY DO I BUY "CLEANSERS" WHEN THIS IS ALL I NEED? September 17, 2008 Jessica Anya Blau, author, The Summer of Naked Swim Parties (Maryland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I swear I'm one of those morons who pays huge amounts of money for facial cleansers, scrubs, masks, peels. I use them for about a week until my face turns so red and flakey that I look like a shredded radish. And then I go to my makeshift toiletry cupboard (it was a shoe cupboard when we moved into the house) and I pull out a bar of Ivory and in a couple of days my face is fine again. Can someone please tell me why I continually ignore my own good sense and throw away my dollars to cosmetic companies who have me convinced me that I'll soon look like a peeled, dried apple if I don't use their cleanser?
Needs to be cheaper. September 1, 2008 David 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Up until recently you could get this package of 12 - 4.5oz Bath size Ivory Soap Bars for $2.97 (plus 5% tax) at Walmart. Now, I think they raised the price up to $3.76 (plus 5% tax). $3.76 * 3 = $11.28 (plus 5% tax) = $11.84 $11.84 < $14.99 (regular order) or $12.74 (automatic reorders)
SOAP! August 12, 2008 Lindsey W. (Dallas, Texas) I love Ivory soap, ok well I bought the Ivory lavender scent and I love it, it smells good.It was just soap, nothing fancy or anything like that, which is what I like. So today I bought the regular Ivory soap, at the Dollar store, because seriously, I wasn't going to buy a huge thing of soap if I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I don't know if it was because it was old or someone spilt cleaning products on it, but it smells like bathroom cleaner, really weird, and it fell apart in my hand when I opened the package. But I'm not going to diss Ivory because it fell apart or because it's not the most pleasing of scents, if that's just the smell of the soap then that's fine, I'll get used to it, I'd rather have something cheap then spend out the whazoo for something that's just supposed to clean your dirty skin.
Stinky Soap - NOT the Original Ivory August 4, 2008 dbny (Brooklyn, NY United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's my own fault that I ended up with a two year supply of stinky soap that I could get at any local store. I read other reviews that claimed the soap they got was the original unscented Ivory. Maybe those folks did get the real thing, but that't not what I got. Why on earth did P&G ever do this to their old standard? I'm stuck with this garbage now, but when it's gone, I'll not buy another bar of Ivory until they once again offer unscented.
